The long-awaited Drumlogue from our friends at Korg is here and it sounds great! A proper groovebox capable of stereo sample playback, classic motion recording, hot-swappable kits, analogue drum voices and digital synths. This was a much bigger sampling project than I realised, as the synth engines are actually pretty deep. I recorded every stock sample in the machine, including drum transients, as well as multiple presets where everything is mixed together with filters, drive etc. In order to present the synth samples in the best way, I had to record notes at various pitches across multiple patches. Finally, the effects provide a strong sonic signature to the Drumlogue, so many of the samples include effects baked-in. This pack therefore is a mixture of top-quality analogue and sampled drums, as well as synth sounds for basses, leads, keys, pads and more.

This sample pack features a ginormous 511 one-shot samples covering the full range of sounds on offer - 72 kicks (plus 16 transients), 32 hats (plus 32 raw samples) 32 snares (plus 9 transients), 16 claps (plus 16 raw samples) 32 toms (plus 10 layers), 16 rimshots (plus 16 raw samples), 16 Nano fx, 16 Nano plucks, and a whopping 180 Nano waveforms including multiple ring-modulations, traditional square, triangle and saw, as well as mixes between them. There's so much variety in the sounds that you could make any kind of music from these, from hip-hop to breaks to funk and house and jazz... It's up to you. With my sample packs I like to provide drum sounds in mono, however as the Drumlogue effects are integral to the overall sound, the claps, snares, hats and rimshots are presented in stereo, with the kicks, toms and Nano oscillators presented in mono - this also goes for their respective sample chains. All individual samples are provided in both 24-bit and 16-bit versions to maximise compatibility with samplers, and are all presented at 48khz sample rate. All samples are royalty-free.

There are also 25 sample chains provided with the download, including .ot files designed for use with the Elektron Octatrack (pre-sliced, evenly-spaced sample chains), which allow for the sounds to be used from several big samples rather than lots of individual ones. These sample chains are presented in 24-bit and 44.1khz sample rate so they work better with the Octatrack, though the samples will work nicely in any sampler such as those from Native Instruments, Akai, Roland, Elektron, Korg, Pioneer, Synthstrom and 1010 Music, as well as all DAWs.

Finally, there is an Ableton Live Drum Selector rack (will work in Live Suite 11.2 and above) which allows you to program a pattern and change the sample with the turn of an encoder, as well as alter decay, pitch, distortion, compression and more with ease.

Each individual sound has been uniquely tweaked with dynamic EQ'ing and careful limiting they sound really full and alive right out of the box, but allowing enough headroom for further processing down the line.
